Top 3 Reasons to REGISTER NOW for the WCIT Summer Luncheon!

Last year, the State of Trade blog featured a (highly-entertaining and informative) list, entitled “Top 5 Reasons to REGISTER NOW for the Washington Trade Conference!” It was, as you might expect, a list of the top five reasons that one should consider registering for that event. My favorite was #5: “The Registration Page is Actually Working!” Isn’t technology great?

So, with the WCIT Summer Luncheon coming up on July 19, I figured that I might repeat that performance with a list of the top three reasons you should consider registering for this event, which is focused on “U.S.-Asia Trade Policy.” I’ve decided to title the post “Top 3 Reasons to REGISTER NOW for the WCIT Summer Luncheon!” Just for clarity, if you know what I mean.

So, without further ado, here they are:

3) Everyone is going to be there!: Except you, that is, unless you REGISTER NOW. The WCIT Summer Luncheon is the only gathering this summer focused on the trade policy issues that are most important to Washington state’s economy – like China and the Trans-Pacific Partnership. We’re expecting more than 100 business and government leaders for a great discussion, and you don’t want to be left out!

2) Approximately 69% of you care about the topic!: Well, likely more than that, but I know for sure that, in 2010, 69% of Washington exports went to Asia-Pacific countries; in addition, a significant number of our state’s retailers and manufacturers leverage Asia-Pacific countries as part of their global supply chain. And so you care about issues of market access, enforcement and tariffs in those countries. As I mentioned above, the focus of the event will be “U.S.-Asia Trade Policy,” so you need to be there to find out how the future of these issues might impact your business!

1) How often do you get to hear from an Ambassador?: And not just any Ambassador, but Ambassador Demetrios Marantis – the Deputy United States Trade Representative! Ambassador Marantis is responsible for U.S. trade negotiations and enforcement in Asia and Africa, and leads USTR global initiatives on trade and development, labor, and the environment. So, he’s kind of a big deal.

So, REGISTER NOW! Otherwise, I’ll have to put out a list of the top 10 reasons to register…
