On July 19, the Washington Council on International Trade held its annual Summer Luncheon. This year, the theme of the event was “U.S.-Asia Trade Policy,” and featured Deputy United States Trade Representative Demetrios Marantis as the keynote speaker. Ambassador Marantis focused his remarks on the Obama Administration’s efforts to ensure a level playing field in U.S. trade with China, as well as the progress of the Trans-Pacific Partnership regional free trade agreement negotiations.

In addition, a panel of businesses from across the state discussed their insights into the current opportunities and challenges of U.S.-Asia trade, and their suggestions for policy changes that would increase the competitiveness of Washington businesses in these markets.
