Each year, WCIT and its members travel to Washington, D.C., to meet with our Senators, Congressmen and Congresswomen from Washington state to discuss the top trade policy issues impacting our state’s employers. This year the Washington Council on International Trade traveled with 20 of our members and met with 7 of our 10 House Congressional Delegation and both U.S. Senators to talk about trade issues of upmost importance to our state. Trade issues highlighted during our 2014 visit to D.C. were: Reforming the Harbor Maintenance (HMT) Tax, approving Trade Promotion Authority (TPA), and Reauthorizing the Export Import (Ex Im) Bank of the United States. Our meetings were very successful and trips like this are just one small example of the kind of access to elected officials WCIT members receive!
